What Is The Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)?
Each year, the Chester County Historical Society provides educational services to 7,000 or more students from Chester County and beyond. These programs are partially funded through income from contributions given through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit program (EITC).
This program was established to encourage Pennsylvania-based businesses to support qualifying educational improvement organizations LIKE CCHS. In return for their charitable support, these businesses receive generous tax benefits. Tax Benefits for Pennsylvania-based Businesses
- What kind of tax relief?
Businesses authorized to do business in PA who are subject to one or more of the following taxes: Corporate Net Income Tax; Capital Stock Franchise Tax, Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax; Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax; Title Insurance
Companies Shares Tax; Insurance Premiums Tax; or Mutual Thrift Institution Tax.
- How much credit can a business get?
Tax credits equal to 75% of its contribution up to a maximum of $200,000 per taxable year; can be increased to 90% of the contribution, if business agrees to provide same amount for two consecutive tax years.
- How does my business get qualified to participate in this program?

- How do I give to CCHS?
Applications for tax credits are accepted on July 1 annually. To participate, contact the Department of Community and Economic Development for an application. Once your application is approved, you make a donation to CCHS and can take a tax credit as allowed by your approval letter. To make a donation to CCHS, contact Jill Dixon at 610.692.4800 ext. 235.
