Then & Now: The design and materials of
objects change over time, but human needs
are constant. Students compare everyday
objects from the past with 21st-century objects that meet the same needs.
Grade: 1-3; 1 hour, 25 students

Quilts of Many Colors: Colors, shapes,
patterns and signs of wear and tear on
quilts provide clues to the lives of real
people who made or owned quilts now in
the museum collections. Students hear a
quilt story and examine authentic quilt
fragments.

Just Over the Line: The Underground Railroad: Storytelling, role-
play activities and a decision-making challenge help students understand
the complexities and challenges of the slave issue in the years leading up to
the Civil War.
Grade: 3-8; 1 hour, 50 students maximum

Daily Life in Colonial Pennsylvania: This
program explores a day in the life of a colonial
boy or girl, using objects and clothing to demonstrate chores, learning and fun.
Grade: 3-6; 1 hour, 50 students maximum

The American Revolution in Your Backyard: The impact of the
American Revolution is seen through the eyes of local residents whose
stories live on in letters, diaries and public documents. Students examine
documents and role-play wartime events from the civilian perspective.
Grade: 4-8; 1 hour, 50 students maximum
