Scholarships

During the 2009-2010 school year, scholarships covering program fees and transportation are available thanks to DCED grants procured through Representatives  McIlvaine-Smith and Hershey.  Schools with 25% or more of the student population enrolled in the Title I program are eligible. Scholarships are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition, free trips to CCHS for middle schools, including busing and admission, are available when the trip includes visiting the What is Open Space?  exhibit.  In addition, schools are entitled to a one-month use of the traveling trunk “Improving the Land” free of charge.

Please let us know if you qualify when you call to reserve a program Contact the School and Youth Office at 610-692-4800 x203 or sknight@chestercohistoricla.org if you have questions.

Chaperones
One chaperone for every ten students is required, and admission for those chaperones is free. Walking tours require one for every five students. Extra chaperones are welcome, but will be charged the student fee of $5 for their visit. Special needs groups can call for a waiver of this fee.

Lunch at the Historical Society
With prior arrangement, your class may eat at the Historical Society, inside or on the grounds,  although  there is no on-site food service.  There are also several municipal parks within walking distance.

Photographs
We ask that you not take photographs in areas with historic artifacts, but you may take photographs of students in the History Lab or classroom spaces. During your visit, we also may take photographs of your group as it participates in activities. These photographs may be used by the Historical Society to promote or document our programs and activities.
