Quilts Tell Stories A joint program for all ages at Historic Yellow Springs with Chester County Historical Society
Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 7 pm
The evening festivities will include:
Pieces and Patterns: Quilt History and Chester County
How are 19th century quilts made in Chester County similar to or different from quilts made elsewhere or at different times in history? This illustrated slide lecture presentation by Ellen Endslow, Director of Collections and Curator, explores materials, construction and styles of Chester County quilts and their place in the history of quilted handiwork. It also describes a 2003-2004 county-wide quilt documentation initiative.
Hands-on Quilt Activities and Stories
- Children and youth will enjoy a variety of quilt projects and stories led by CCHS Museum Educators Sue Knight and Carol Samuelson.
- Quilting demonstrations plus try your hand at some quilting patterns
- Check out the Quilting Books on special display in the Chester Springs Library
- Light refreshments provided - including hot chocolate and decorate a cookie
