As downtown West Chester and Chester County's newest performing arts venue, the Cultural Center at Chester County Historical Society aims to engage and enlighten the community at large by providing a variety of public cultural events. Within walking distance to many of the greatest restaurants, shops and galleries in the county, the Cultural Center will strive to become a neighborhood center for social and cultural activities such as music, theatre, dance, film, discussions and even family-friendly programs for children and adults.

One of our most recent events spotlighted singer/guitarist Phil Roy and his band, along with the sweet sounds of opening act Melody Gardot. In a later Saturday, children bopped around the room while following the CCHS mascot Chester Bear as "Saturday Night" played on the sound system. On May 9, the Cultural Center was jam-packed for a film night featuring "The Ghosts of Duffy's Cut," a documentary about the much-debated death of 57 Irish immigrants in Chester County. The movie was supplemented by a special exhibition of objects from the Duffy's Cut archaeological site and a question and answer session with three of the principal researchers.

Planned for the fall are two cultural events per month beginning in September including Zydeco-A-Go-Go, Hot Club Philly - a gypsy jazz band, a partnership with 5-String Productions and West Chester Folk that will bring a folk, jazz and classical music series for the fall/winter seasons, and the lively West Chester Fashion Show, Cirque de Beaute, in late September.

In addition to hosting a variety of cultural events, the Cultural Center is also available for rent, offering a much-needed location for conferences, corporate events, formal galas, meetings and fund-raisers in Chester County. This great space provides the capacity for a 300 person cocktail reception or an intimate sit-down dinner. During the warmer months, renters get access to the outdoor patio space overlooking downtown West Chester. For more information, please see Facility Rentals.

**Be sure to visit the Cultural Center Booth for games, prizes, information on upcoming events and promotional giveaways at Super Sunday, June 3 from 11-5 on Gay Street and the 25th Annual Turks Head Music Festival in Everhart Park on July 15 starting at noon. We'll also make use of our patio space for promotions and concerts during the Gallery Walks every first Friday, and Swingin' Summer Thursdays during the summer months.

Be sure to check out the Chester County Historical Center Calendar of Events for a more complete listing of Cultural Center happenings. Look for the Cultural Center Logo!
